Miami Heat: LeBron James no substance just talent!

LeBron James arguably the most talented athlete the NBA has ever offered. LeBron's ability to jump, shoot, run, stop and pop, soar for a dunk and block a shot is unreal. A player of LeBron's natural talent comes around once every 20 years. Favorable comparisons with the likes of Oscar Robinson, and Magic Johnson is once in a lifetime event.

The truth about LeBron is the sports world loves him, he is the NBA's Golden Son born to fly and win championships but something is missing. Lebron's actions leave many fans and sports media supporters feeling disappointed. Disappointed because we appreciate King James, we have mass aberration for the Kings talents. The problem is our expectations of King Jame was so high that many of us feel disappointed when a player of his talents fails to win a Championship, losing twice in the NBA Finals, and failing to hit key game winning shots.

Watching the 2012 NBA All Star in Orlando Florida, I now believe the fans and media reporters believe more in LeBron than King James believes in himself. (Exhibit A) NBA fans believed LeBron talents could take the Cleveland Cavaliers to the NBA Finals and LeBron achieved that goal because he believed. NBA fans and journalist believed in 2011 that LeBron could have carried the Cavaliers to multiple NBA titles but unfortunately LeBron opted out of Cleveland signing a new contract with the Miami Heat because he stopped believing. Media outlets ESPN, NBA.com and others around the world believed last year before the NBA Finals that LeBron was better than Dirk Nowitzki.but somewhere during the NBA Finals LeBron failed to believe.

We thought LeBron wanted to be a leader, we believed LeBron was "Batman" looking for his own "Robin" to compliment him on the court. We were wrong LeBron instead aired "The Decision" choosing to become "Robin" to Dwayne Wade's "Batman". When LeBron arrived in Miami fans argued over who should take the last shot for the Miami Heat but LeBron failed in his attempts choosing not to believe.

Recently during the 2012 NBA All Star game Kobe Bryant believed LeBron was ready to give us a
"mano a mano" moment, a one on one classic between LeBron and Kobe for an All Star game winner. Instead LeBron opted out of creating the moment throwing an errant pass, problem? (yeah you guessed it) LeBron chose not to believe. After the play the world watched Kobe snicker brushing his broken nose asking LeBron " what are you doing?" Even Kobe believed in LeBron more than LeBron believed in himself. When Kobe was whispering those words to LeBron while Carmelo and Wade watched it confirmed to us before our eyes that LeBron is missing that "it' factor". Maybe it's mental, maybe LeBron should talk to Dr. Phil.

All Star Weekend LeBron James still Don't Understand-

Remember the days when everyone couldn't wait until NBA All Star Saturday. Watching your favorite players like Dr. J,  Dominique Wilkins, Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, Shawn Kemp, Kobe Bryant, Vince Carter, Dwight Howard and Blake Girffin lace their shoes and perform Air- o- nomics. The dunk contest was the most anticipated moment of the All Star weekend. Fans packed the stadium to see their favorite players do things with the basketball they would never see during a regulated basketball game. The competition was a gift from the players to the fans.

Michael Jordan and others participated in the dunk contest because All Star weekend was about giving the fans what they wanted to see. Vince Carter knew how important it was to continue the tradition, he knew every great player at his position had won a slam dunk contest. Shawn Kemp knew fans wanted to see the "Reign Man" perform to his athletic potential. Kobe Bryant understand in order to be the best and be loved by the fans who supported him he owed a debt of gratitude to participate in the dunk contest. Dominique Wilkins was well aware of what it meant to compete against Michael Jordan in a "No Holds Barred" dunk competition in front of the fans. The All Star dunk contest was a measuring stick of greatness in the eye's of the fans.

Listening to LeBron James make excuses for not competing in front of the fans in the dunk contest made me feel a little rejected. Doesn't LeBron James understand All Star weekend is about giving the fans what they want to see? His comments were selfish, while babbling about not competing a reporter asked LeBron "would he compete in the dunk contest for $50 million? LeBron's response: "I would consider it".

When asked if he would simply compete in the contest he said "no, I am a in game dunker" So LeBron will consider dunking for $50 million but won't consider simply competing for the fans? Normally I wouldn't care but too hear "King James' make that quote made me think of all the players who were generous enough to give the fans around the world some of the best "All Star Dunk" moments. Cheers to the NBA players who understood All Star weekend was about the fans...

Rasheed Wallace to the Lakers?

Uhhh Ohhh it's NBA All Star Break time, the time of year signing and trade rumors start to surface. The 2012 season got off to a late start due to the lock-out but that it's been full of trade rumors like D. Howard wanting to play for the Nets or Chris Paul being traded to the Lakers and then to the Clippers. NBA players signing deals overseas and then returning to change the landscape of the NBA.

First Kenyon Martin returned from China to form a post "Beast" lineup of DeAndre Jordan, Blake Griffin and Kenyon Martin for the Los Angeles Clippers. Then Josh Smith who was averaging over 35 points a game in China returned to America to join forces with Jeremy Lin, Carmelo Anthony, and Amare Stoudemire. Now their are rumors buzzing that Rasheed Wallace a player who was last season playing pick up in a local gym in North Carolina is now the savior to the Lakers porous bench production.

If true this puts two of the most unstable players in NBA history (ala.. Dennis Rodman) in the same gym at the same practice on the same team. After signing Rasheed Wallace the Lakers might want to call on the services of the "Zen Master" Dr. Phil Jackson to do some Mantra before the games.  Now I don't claim to know why the Lakers are signing Rasheed Wallace because I don't but I understand what happens when you mix Ammonium Nitrate "Ron Artest" and Fuel Oil "Rasheed Wallace". Last time we saw Rasheed Wallace he was getting dunked on by Duke's Austin Rivers.  I expect the Lakers to make another move possibly a trade coming up in the coming weeks.

Special mention Wilson Chandler has been lurking around Denver and Toronto lately seeking a long term contract.

Kansas Teen shoot perfect free throws while residing in a 100 day coma.

"Teen basketball star Maggie Meier had perfect free-throw form, even when she was in a coma.
In the fall of her freshman year of high school, Meier got meningitis, a bacterial infection that spurred swelling in her brain and sparked terrifying seizures in the healthy student athlete.
"I'll never forget it," said Meier's mom, Margaret, a pediatric intensive care unit nurse. "Her eyes rolled back, and I knew what was happening. It was terrifying." By KATIE MOISSE | Good Morning America
To Maggies family this was horrifying watching a healthy young gifted teenager take a turn for the worst. For Magaret, Maggies mother this had to be a terrifying event.  Imagine your little one being affected by a helpless medical condition.
"Seeing her every day, not getting any better, it was horrible," Margaret said, detailing the tubes that delivered nourishment and life-saving medications to her unresponsive daughter. "But she would do things that would make us know she was still there." By KATIE MOISSE | Good Morning America
Maggies sister would visit everyday standing as a goal post arms extended wide forming a open circle imitating a rim for Maggie to shoot. It was as if Maggie had engraved the love of basketball into her brain locked into a state that could not be touched. Maggies free throws were automatic and the neurologists were stunned.

Josh Smith 2012 NBA All Star snub seems to be overlooked in the Atlanta sports media market.  Talk to anyone who follows the Atlanta Hawks and they will say Josh has great potential and fans are waiting for more. What are the fans waiting for, Josh to average 20 pts per game and snatch 12 rebounds per contest?

If Josh played in New York, Los Angeles, or Chicago he would be a two time All Star playing for a big market team. Instead Josh is the perfect example of a hot talent in a underperforming sports media market. Atlanta fans were recently accused by sports media reporters as being “a bad sports town”. Residents in Atlanta claim that Atlanta is a transient city full of out of town citizens creating a gap in fan support.
During the CBA agreement David Stern lobbied for more growth in underperforming markets like Atlanta, New Orleans and Milwaukee. Commissioner Stern and Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert made resounding remarks during the lockout making a case that underperforming and smaller markets should be the new focus in the NBA. If small underperforming markets are the NBA’s new focus then Josh being snubbed from the All Star game roster after averaging 16.0 ppg, 9.5 reb, 1.5 stls and 2.1 blks is a slap to the NBA’s new direction.

Atlanta Hawks have one of the top records in the Eastern Conference. Josh continues to be a huge contributing factor for the Hawks stepping into a leadership role with the absence of injured NBA All Star center Al Horford.  Josh is no longer the player waiting on the arrival of his Oak Hill Academy potential he has arrived.

Too Peyton Manning or not Too Peyton Manning? that is the $28 million Dollar Question. Every great folk hero story must come to an end thus is the story of Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts. Coming up in the next two to four weeks the Colts will have to make a franchise altering decision too Peyton Manning or not too Peyton Manning? That is the $28 million dollar question currently facing the Colts.

Many of the NFL’s greatest Quarterbacks have been forced to move on from franchises where they provided epic career moments and Super Bowl victories. San Francisco 49ers fans saw the transition from Joe Montana to Steve Young and the Green Bay Packers survived the handover from Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers. In the NFL it’s not new to see legends pass on to the next generation of greatness so what makes the Peyton Manning conversation different?

Steve Young and Aaron Rodgers benefitted from being in the team locker rooms, meetings, practices and workouts with Montana and Favre. When the reigns of greatness were passed on Young and Rodgers were veterans not rookies. Allowing the young veterans to learn the system and protocols of the NFL. Steve Young had the locker room presence and guidance of Jerry Rice. Aaron Rodgers benefitted from a receiving corps of Greg Jennings and Donald Driver. The Colts are completely the polar opposite looking to rebuild from the ground up there is no Greg Jennings or Jerry Rice for Andrew Luck to connect with Reggie Wayne is an unrestricted free agent this off season. The worst part would be the fact that Andrew Luck could be on an island in Indianapolis by himself without the presence of a veteran team to help guide the franchise.

Jeremy Lin the New York Linsation that many NBA fans are starting to embrace is the perfect example of a player overlooked. This week I was reading an article where Lin was talking about his achievements and how he was a local state High School star in Palo Alto California. While in High School Lin was named first-team All-State and Northern California Division II Player of the Year, ending his senior year averaging 15.1 points, 7.1 assists, 6.2 rebounds and 5.0 steals. In his senior year in 2005–2006, Lin captained Palo Alto High School to a 32–1 record and upset nationally ranked Mater Dei, 51–47, for the California Interscholastic Federation Division II state title.

So why did he choose to play college basketball at Harvard versus attending Duke, UCLA, Kentucky, and North Carolina? No it's not because he wanted to go to Harvard, he sent DVD video's to Stanford and UCLA unfortunately the phone never ringed there and the mailbox was empty as he eagerly waited for letters. Lin never received a letter or phone call from Mike Krzyzewski, Ben Howland, John Calipari, and Roy Williams. UCLA and Stanford the school's Lin listed on his dream sheet ignored the first-team All in State talent. Jeremy Lin's talents, High School trophy's and California State title was continually thrown to the side by  college scouts. Only two Universities showed true interest in Lin Harvard and Brown.

This is why I am a Jeremy Lin fan, this is why I am in the corner of the underdog because when everybody looked for the next Steve Nash or the next great point guard. They overlooked what was resting in their own backyard, they ignored the talent sitting in their locker room.  Now Linsation is no longer overlooked he receives the press he finally deserved. So how bad did you overlook Linsanity? Below is a special video featuring Jeremy Lin dropping 30 points on Kemba Walker (Harvard vs. UCONN) and you tell me do you remember Jeremy Lin?

Whitney Houston the “Girl from Newark” passed away in a Beverly Hilton Hotel on Saturday February 11 2012. Whitney Houston had the voice of an angelic Angel; her voiced healed the hearts of many she was an artist as soulful as the sun.  Whitney was a singer, mother, wife, actor and historic performer.

One of the most monumental Whitney Houston performances was during Super Bowl XXV. Her voice singing the National Anthem brought healing to the hearts of many troops and American citizens worldwide at a time when the United States was at war in Iraq during Desert storm.  Her voice that day was remarkable and her performance was a perfect tribute to America during America’s Greatest Game.

That year in Tampa FL the New York Giants defeated the Buffalo Bills 20-19 on the leg of a missed last second field goal by Buffalo Bills placekicker Scott Norwood. Super Bowl XXV was an instant classic but it was Whitney Houston’s harmonic voice that stole the show. Whitney’s rendition of the National Anthem sold out in music stores hitting #20 on the Billboard Hot 100 music charts.

Whitney Houston thank you for the sweet memories your voice will always be a remembered for your Angelic soulful touch.  Whitney’s passing leaves behind her and Bobby Brown’s daughter Bobbi Kristina age 18.
